iLoad gadget copies CDs to your iPod without a computer

iload There's a new iPod accessory on the block for those few people on earth (cavemen) still holding on to their boxes of dusty CDs. I kid, but seriously, a company called iLoad has a product called the, well… iLoad . According to their web site, the iLoad copies CDs over to your iPod at a rate of about 8 minutes per disc, without the need for a computer.

One of my uncles is finally breaking away from a cabinet loaded with CDs to an iPod he received for Christmas. It's exciting to get your first MP3 player, but on the other hand, it's a mind-numbing and tedious task to copy thousands of CDs onto your computer, so an accessory like this could be pretty useful for someone like him. I suppose the iLoad could even be useful for people who don't spend a lot of time at their computers and would rather just transfer the songs they already have on CD to an iPod.

I could probably copy a CD to my computer in under eight minutes, but it would pretty cool to be able to leave the iLoad out on a table with my iPod and just transfer a CD over every time I walked by, instead of having to sit at my computer and load piles of CDs at once. At $299, though, the iLoad seems like an iRipoff, and I'd like to see actual product shots on their website, not just renders. A few questions need to be addressed: will the iLoad count as a "computer" when connected to your iPod, and will your iPod library will be nuked if used elsewhere?
